Mother's Day

When you're a virtual single parent like I am right now, it seems like every day is Mother's Day. But on the official one, the kids and I were treated to a three-day visit from Marino. He took the kids to lunch while I went for a little retail therapy a la Ann Taylor.

Poor Nico desperately misses his "Da" and tells me several times a day, "Mah Da -- mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm" with his arms stretched out like an airplane. That's his way of saying that his daddy went on an airplane. Cece, being older, has a better (hell, ANY!) concept of time, so is reassured by knowing that Dad will be back in another couple of weeks. But poor Nico seems uncertain when, if ever, Daddy will be with us.

This "long-distance family" business kinda stinks.

But we had a nice visit with Marino while he was here, and were happy to have him for an extra day more than we'd thought. Now we wait for our next reunion, just 8 more days away ... We miss you & love you, Marino!

I see you!

I can fit in your suitcase -- take me with you!
